Are You A Time Warrior?

Among the books I am currently reading is “Time Warrior” by Steve Chandler.

The subtitle is “How to defeat procrastination, people-pleasing, self-doubt, over-commitment, broken promises and chaos.”

I am reading it because I have done all those things, and still do.

The gyst of the book is “Take Action, Now”.

I thought of this book at the conference I attended last week.

The speaker was talking about how easy it is to waste time (duh), and we don’t realize how much it adds up (double duh).

Except.

He did the math.

If (when) I spend 10 minutes a day on Facebook, that adds up to 60 hours a year, or 1.5 standard work weeks per year.

If I do it when I am supposed to be working, I have stolen 60 hours from my employer.

In my case, I stole 60 hours from myself.

“Yeah, but you’re the boss, so what?”

It was 60 hours I could have spent praying.

Or with my wife.

Or loving on my kids.

And when I think of it that way, the “waste of time” becomes a life less lived.
